Last year the combined student organizations initiated a series of Brown Bag meetings to allow students to present their research, and invited guests to discuss issues important to library science students. In the last two semesters we have covered topics as varied as GLBT issues in the Hillsborough County Library system, the Wolfram|Alpha knowledge engine, working in a newspaper archive, how to build a resume and prepare for interviews, e-government, and the role of the Kindle in libraries.
We’re looking forward to another great set of informal talks this semester, and we want to know if you have a topic you’d like to present, or what topics you might like to see covered. These are informal gatherings and are the perfect place to practice a presentation, or develop a line of research.
Our first brown bag of the semester will be Wednesday, August 26 from 1-2pm in CIS 2020 (right before the first general meeting of the student organizations). The topic will be – How to Succeed in Graduate School. If you have any tips send them along so we can share them with the group!
